Candy Bar

Do you have a favorite candy bar? You probably developed a favorite as a child, but you might steer clear of them now more than you used to.

The Older You Get, the Wiser You Get

When you're a kid, your parents probably tried to limit your intake of candy, but you definitely ate more of it as a kid than you do now. Sure, everyone sneaks a little miniature candy bar out of their kids' Halloween bags, but how much candy do you really eat now compared to when you were a kid. For one thing, a lot of us are more mindful of what we put in our mouths these days. You hear so many bad things about carbs, sugar, fat and calories, that a candy bar can't possibly be good for you, right? And besides, too much sugar can cause tooth decay.

Well, you're right. With 273 calories, 14 grams of fat and 33.7 grams of carbs (bad carbs, not good carbs) the nutrients in a particular candy bar (we won't mention any names) are almost as much as a small meal! Plus, that's a lot of fat and carbs. And since they aren't good carbs, this candy bar won't even keep you feeling full for long. You'll be on a sugar high, then crash and burn.

That's not to say you should never eat a candy bar. Just stick to the small, snack sized ones whenever you have a chocolate craving. Even better--studies have shown that eating three ounces of dark chocolate every day has health benefits.

Candy Bar Gifts?

Yes, it's true. You can give candy bars as gifts in the form of favors at a party, shower or wedding reception. Here's how it's done:

You can even buy personalized candy bar wrappers for those little miniature chocolates. These candy gifts are a nice reminder of your event.
